Singapore - Whampoa Nanxiang chicken rice

Chicken rice is considered a typical Singaporean dish and there are plenty of chicken rice stalls all over Singapore. Today's dinner was at Nanxiang Chicken Rice stall at Whampoa Drive Hawker Centre.

To be shortlisted as one of Singapore's top 5 chicken rice stall is quite a feat, especially with so many competitors out there. They have two other stalls at Lau Pa Sat and Novena's Square 2. However, the owner personally cooks and serves the chicken rice at the Whampoa Outlet.

The modest looking stall during dinner time with many loyal customers coming to order the famous chicken rice.

Look at the number of photos with celebrities or newspaper clippings/awards recommending this chicken rice stall. Missfattyfoodie could not fit all the accolades into one photo!

Being the hungry foodie during dinner time, I ordered the set meal ordered which includes one portion of roasted chicken rice served with xiao bai cai and deep fried toufu topped with sweet thai chili, all for only $5! Chili is important to Missfattyfoodie, the spicier the better and this stall has just that.

Roasted chicken breast meat. Very tender and tasty, served with special sauce.
The fried tofu was awesome because it was fried upon order and was hot and crispy on the outside. Plus the sweet thai chili enhances the taste of the toufu.
The rice was firm and full of flavor and not too oily. Generous serving too so it is a very satisfying and filling set meal, really value for money!
Rating: 4.25/5
Location is at #01-21, Whampoa Drive Hawker Centre
