If you want a hip place which served good icecream and coffee then whisk cremery in subiaco is the right place to go! The term 'perth prices' doesnt exist here which is another plus point for me.

The thai ice-cream and mango sorbet were bursting with flavour, such a good place to visit for a coffee and dessert

This freak concoction is called the caramel sandwich, it is a health freak's nightmare! But it was AMAZING! This sandwich consists of burnt vanilla ice-cream (delicious), topped with cream and drizzled with salted caramel sauce. As if this is not heavy enough, the sandwich is made out of a cronut. This is heaven (not heart attack cos you choose what you want to believe) on a plate 

Breakfast at Louis Baxter

On my routine Sunday walk/cafe search with my friend when we discovered Louis Baxters.

My crappy iphone photos really don't do the place justice. The place was modern, cosy and very inviting. It is also situated right beside Subiaco Train station so it is very convenient!

I had my Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon - $15.50 and a cup of Soy Flat White.

The coffee was velvety smooth and the breakfast was very delicious.

Now there is somewhere to go before I go to the markets to buy fruits and veg

Buddha Bar - Lunch Special

been extremely busy lately 

finally had the time for a quick post!

I went to the Buddha Bar website and came across their lunch special

the place was situated in the trendy subiaco, i love subiaco with all the nice fancy cafes and restaurants

made a reservation a day before, and was promptly brought to our seat by the window

i was amazed by the simplicity, casual yet chic restaurant!

i ordered the tiger prawns with naan bread on the side

it was delishhhhhh

my partner had the creamy chicken

(sorry i forgot the names of the dish!)

but the food was really good and it costs approx $12 each

too affordable for such a nice place, highly recommended!

Lunch at Satsuki

Was at Subiaco yesterday during lunch time so we made a quick decision to have lunch at Satsuki.

Had a quick look at the lunch menu and realised the price is so much cheaper than the dinner menu, yay for me!

For entre, we had the Anago Roll - Approx $10

Unagi eel + egg souffle, it was very fresh and delicious

I had the sake simmered mackerel set, the markerel was very tasty, and had a sweet taste. It comes with rice, miso soup and seasoned vegetables. Approx $14

My partner has the Karrage Chicken Set (fried chicken). The batter was light and crispy. One of the best karaage chicken i've eaten. Approx $14

The lunch service was also very quick and we were able to get back to work on time :)

If you are in Subiaco, visit this place for authentic and delicious japanese food. Lunch menu is also significantly cheaper than the dinner menu. Lucky for the people working in Subi!

Perth - Jus Burger

Caught a really bad case of flu and I took a day off work yesterday. I was sooo bored at home all i did was take vitamin c and slept through out the day - which worked because i am feeling much better now! I dont believe in panadols as they just make you feel better, but doesnt cure the root of the problem - yea im traditional like that, but i do take them if i have no choice!

Anyway, I was talking to my colleague abt food (turns out shes a foodie too!) and she told me good things about Jus Burger. My partner wanted to try it too so he bought takeaway to cheer me up! yea i know its not the kind of food a sick person will eat, but this was no ordinary burger....

I walked past this burger joint once in Subiaco and it was crowded with people who all looked really happy. Will go there one day and i will update this blog with more pictures

When my partner brought back the brown paper bag packed with burgers, onion rings and fries, i instantly forgot about my illness. I love it when he buys takeaway for me (very rare but I love it!! its like in the ancient times where the man will bring their 'catch' home to their woman. haha his catch of the day was Jus Burgers)

I ordered the Original Chicken Burger (marinated in garlic, herbs and oil) - $12, all burgers are served with fresh lettuce, tomato, spanish onion, relish and house made aioli.

On the menu, they stated that All Jus Chicken is 100% Mount Barker free range chicken breast, hormone free and chargrilled. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the burger! True to their words, the burger was really fresh. The meat, vegetable, dressing and bread tasted heavenly. It was one of the best burger i've ever had. They have also won numerous awards for Favourite Burger.

My partner's Wagyu Beef - 100% Ningaloo Wagyu beef with wasabi mayo - $14

Their Wagyu is 100% WA Wagyu beef, hormone free and chargrilled.

Jus Burgers also proudly embraces the 'buy west eat best' program supporting the suppliers and producers of WA. They also claim that NO FROZEN FOOD allowed, so you can be assured that they only use the freshest ingredients. Their bread is Turkish Bread from the Turkish Bakery which is so soft and fluffy, with lots of flavour. I love Turkish bread! My partner also enjoyed his delicious burger.

Their burgers are really big, and I had it over 2 meals, good value for money too.

Onion Rings (gigantic!) with aioli - $5

These were lightly battered onion rings that was well seasoned and crispy. Tasted very fresh and natural too.

Chips (Fresh skin on Royal blue potatoes, never frozen) this chips came with the meal deal, we added $5 with any burger, and we get to choose chips or salad, green tomato pickle & slaw. The Slaw was YUMMOOO. Even their chips were good! Overall, it was a really satisfying meal. Plus, having a trustworthy burger joint in Perth is perfect for a fun and casual meal! Food is the best medicine for a foodie like me

Perth - Satsuki

It is well-known among Japanese food-lovers that Perth has very limited restaurants that serve good Japanese cuisine. Sushis are atrociously modified to handheld rice kebabs, teriyaki chicken is the most well-known japanese food here although you might have little luck finding them in Japan. Japanese cuisine is one of my favourite cuisine but I look with disappointment whenever I go to the sushi places here because the sushi here are way oversized, made with dry rice, most of the time they are stale and they are very expensive!

However, there are still some Japanese restaurants that I frequent and I think they are worth mentioning because they serve good food. If you know of any good Japanese restaurants please let me know!

As my craving for Japanese food kicked in, I googled for the best Japanese restaurant in Perth. Satsuki came up and I decided to give it a try.

Having been to Japan recently, I was blown away when I visited Satsuki. Their service was similar to the service in Japan, they were so polite, attentive and efficient. The style of the restaurant was quite casual and there were a few tables outside for alfresco dining (request to sit outside as I think it is nicer). They also have a lunch takeaway and dinner takeaway menu. I made a reservation as the place is usually full.

Steam Rice - $3

Agedashi Tofu - $8.50

I was a bit surprised that we need to pay $3 for steam rice, but I think that is most of the restaurants' custom in australia :(

The agedashi tofu was one of the best I've tasted in Perth! The batter was slightly crispy while the tofu was silky soft served with mince radish on top (which is the japanese way but most restaurants here don't do that). The serving was quite generous too.

Deep Fried Sushi Roll with Miso Marinated Tuna - $15.00

I was intrigued by this interesting dish! Sushi roll, thats covered in batter and deep fried,  sounds amazing isnt it? The sushi was crispy on the outside, but moist and full of flavour on the inside. The tuma was marinated with miso and this dish was heavenly.

Wagyu Beef Tataki - $17.00

I've recently acquired a taste for beef tataki - lightly seared raw beef served with lots of garlic, spring onion in a tangy sour sauce. I am still a bit repulsive with eating raw beef (or any kind of meat including fish) but the beef tataki tastes sooo divined I will just have to cast my inner thoughts aside and let the foodie in me take over. Again, one of the best in Perth I've ever tasted! The beef was tender soft and fresh, it was good wagyu!

Pork Belly Kakuni - $14.00

The softest part of the swine family is the pork belly (where bacon comes from) as the glorious saturated fats that is everyone's enemy is in that area too. This pork belly was so nicely braised, you can still taste the sake in the stock. The meat was incredibly soft it went really well with the rice due to it's strong taste.

I was really impressed by the service and food in Satsuki. They serve good Japanese food although the price of the food is quite high. It is definitely worth a visit and I can't wait to go back again!

Perth - Chocolateria San Churros

Last night I was in Subiaco for dinner, so I decided to go to the San Churro there for dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth. I have been to the Fremantle branch several times but this was my first time in Subi's one.

The cafe was big with a few tables outside which are perfect for a cool evening. There are some interesting chocolate related verses on the ceiling,  it's like we've entered into the chocolate heaven

Single serve Churros with Caramel sauce - $7.90

The churros here are always freshly fried (i have never had one that is not). Tastes like really wonderful crispy deep fried dough sticks with warm sweet caramel sauce. It was such a sinful dish but I will not regret eating this as it was really good! I usually go with the milk chocolate sauce.

Avellana- $5.90

San Churro's hot chocolate is a whole cup of melted chocolate. They are very rich in flavour and thick but velvety smooth. It is like heaven in a cup for chocoholics. However, it was a bit too thick for me so I needed help in finishing one cup - chocolate overload!

I would definitely recommend this cafe for desserts and chocolate lovers! They serve coffess and cakes too. Be sure to try their churros as that is their specialty. They also sell truffles and other chocolate related products.

Perth - Funtastico

I love to spend my weekend mornings in a cafe where I can take my time sipping my cup of latte while watching people pass by. Eggs, toast and bacon are also a must for weekends. We chose to go back to Funtastico as it is conveniently located near the subi market and their breakfast is awesome.

Very spacious and modern interior. It is a very nice place for chilling out and they are often full during dinner time (which i have yet to try)

Poached eggs on smoked salmon on toast - yummmooo!

His order. The scrambled egg was very creamy and it tasted heavenly with the grilled tomatoes, sausages, mushroom and bacon

I like the food and the spacious restaurant. However, their service still needs to match up with the quality of the food! I also heard that they serve very good pasta. Anyway, I am used to their service and have learnt to embrace it as their personalities so it doesn't bother me as much as before. In fact, i find it funny at the way they serve people as that does give the restaurant some character.

i brought mff sg here for breakfast last year when she came to perth for a visit. We were the only ones there as it was a weekday. They took ages to take our order, and then took ages to come to our table. I was practically waving both hands in the air signalling for one of the staff (although looks like the boss) to come over, and he just stared at me. Maybe he forgot his glasses that day or he thought i was waving at the chair he was sitting on. The food was still good with generous portion.
