Deco Restaurant at Raffles Hotel

My partner was given a $250 dining voucher at Deco Restaurant (at raffles hotel) in Canning Bridge, sometimes when the days are looking grim, free things are given to people lol. we happily invited two of our close friends to join us too 

the bar is very big and classy, it was crowded even though it was a cold rainy night, and that doesnt stop the girls from wearing their super short dresses

maybe it is very cosy inside the bar :P

the blistering cold did not stop the smokers from sitting at the outdoor area, im surprised there is such a huge area for smokers, because most of the cafes/bars here only designate a small area… so this is a good place to note for people who enjoy puffing away 

i think the alfresco area will be beautiful in the warmer days

the restaurant was quite empty as it was a sunday night, very classy with a big aquarium near the entrance.

the kitchen is also open so you can view the chefs preparing your food

lots of bottles of wines lined up the wall of the restaurant. they do know their wine/beer, i come to this conclusion due to their massive wine menu. The waitress were very attentive that day without being over intrusive, our glass was never empty and they were always happy to answer our questions.

this was a big bonus to the very enjoyable night

Beef Fillet (250 gm)

char grilled, served with a mushroom & parmesan polenta, sun dried tomato butter & balsamic jus

both beef were cooked to perfection and very tender. i love the rich concentrated sauce that were very well with the meat

Cape Grim Scotch Fillet (350 gm)

char grilled, served with a garlic, caper herb butter, asparagus and a shiraz jus

Special of the day: Cod Fish

my friend said the fish was delicious too

Double Roasted Duck

slow roasted in a rich thai red curry sauce, with lychees, tamarind, lemongrass, fried shallot & coconut rice

foodie no. 2 said the duck was very good and one of the best he's tried

Chocolate Fondant

this was quite average even thought presentation was really nice. nonetheless it still tasted good.

Lemon Lime Tart

this was the tart that we all did not have enough of, the taste was just perfect. i wish we each ordered one!!

very nice and romantic place to dine. the bar is separated from the restaurant and the place is classy and not rowdy at all. i loved it so much i will come back again even though there are no vouchers the next time!! the food is quite affordable too, not too pricey for its standard and ambience of the restaurant.

yes i am in the middle of my internship and the longer working hours, hustling bustling of a big city is taking a toll on me. i have no time to blog, shop, hang out etc.

but i found some time today and i dont have to bring work home (who the hell ots during internship!?!) so i can blog! i've totally forgot what i've eaten but i remember the taste!

Red Ferrari - $14

what a refreshing and fruity cocktail. i don't drink much but i really like the taste of this, could easily finish it

Tasting Plate

this was alright, the combination was good, food was fresh, nothing spectacular though.

Garlic Pizza

the base was handmade, it was so fluffy and light, and the garlic seasoning was just nice, not overwhelming. please order this!!

their pizzas are awesome

this was some seafood pasta, it was good too. tossed with olive oil and garlic, with heaps of fresh seafood.

Tiramisu

I enjoed the dessert too!

what a wonderful meal and good for people living in south of the river, plenty of free parking too.

Perth - Cioccolato

Since school has started, I had some spare time in between lectures to catch up with friends (which then made me skip my lectures because I was having too much fun!)

Same thing happened this day. I was supposed to meet my friend for a quick cup of coffee before my lecture, but I ended up spending half the day with her. She introduced me to Cioccolato which is well-known among coffee lovers.

The cafe is situated in Applecross, Ardross street where there are a few cafes lined up beside each other. I did my research on this place before I went (dedicated food blogger, no?) and some people claimed that they serve the best coffee! To an avid coffee-lover/addict, this was music to my ears.

My usual choice of coffee - latte, and a carrot and walnut cake.

The latte came in a tall glass (i ordered the large one) and the taste was different to other lattes. It is difficult to describe but there is a stronger coffee taste to it, yet it is subtle and not overwhelming. The cakes all look homemade, and there are a lot of gluten-free and organic choices. The Carrot and Walnut cake was moist and fresh. It went perfectly with the latte.

Wildberry Tart

This was my friend's order, and I quote "you've got to try this, it is seriously good!" Again, the homemade tart tasted really fresh, and you could tell that they used good quality ingredients for their products. The tart was rich in flavour but not too sweet, it was delish.

I would recommend this place for coffee and cakes. I don't think they open for dinner, so please call to confirm! You can even bring your pets if you sit outside.

Perth - Viva Restaurant at Applecross

One lazy evening, I went online to search for good pasta places around my suburb and I found very good reviews of Viva Restaurant which was located at Applecross.

I've drove past this restaurant a lot of times but I've never thought about giving it a try! I always go to the places I am familiar with - it's time to treat my tastebuds to something new this time :)

There is a lot of good food in Australia but you need to know where to find it. Australia is made up of big immigrant groups so we get a range of very good authentic food like Italian, Chinese and Indian etc. According to the web, Viva serves authentic Italian cuisine that has a home-made theme to it. The chef is also famous in Perth and has opened his own 'family' restaurant

The restaurant is quite casual but it has an elegant feel to it. It has a really nice bar and the ambience of the place is relaxing and romantic too! (must be the lighting)

They have a lot of pasta choices, and you get to choose what pasta you want with their wide variety of pasta suace.

My order: Beef Ravioli with Pomodore sauce - Traditional tomato sauce with fresh basil, garlic, onion and bay leaf $19.00

My pasta was good, but this was much better! (sorry for the bad photo)

Pasa Al Forno Tortellini (baked) - Baked with bacon, chicken, mushroom, tomato, cream, mozzerella $23.00

Dessert - Cream Brulee with coffee for only $9.90! You get to choose coffee or tea with any dessert for that price.

Went back again and we were lucky because it was pasta night. All pasta for half-price!

For entree, we ordered the Eggplant Rolled with mince meat and mushroom.

I ordered my baked tortellini again (see above) for half the price this time. My partner ordered the pasta duo.

This restaurant serves one of the best pasta I've ever tasted in Perth. I highly recommend it! Viva has a lot of specials going on like half-price pasta on certain days, live music day and friday lunch dimsum (italian dimsum - is there such a thing? the owner is just so creative!)

Perth - Deli Chicchi at Ardross St

Had Thursday off work so I can study and catch up with my lectures. Instead, I went to meet one of my closest friend from uni for lunch and coffee. this smart girl here has answers to everything just graduated from law school. She's leaving Perth next month and will be going to canada next year to travel and work! i will miss u, and hopefully if i dont spend all my money on food i will go visit u!

we had lunch at Sundays Everyday where i ordered my teriyaki chicken udon with the chicken separated again.. i will never get sick of that dish

The rain was pouring down heavily so our initial plan of going for some beer changed to going to a cafe for hot coffee. Why do I always feel like having coffee and snuggling under a blanket whenever it is raining?

This is my mocha (sg mff's fav coffee) with a small glass of dark chocolate chips at the side.


We sat outside with our coffee and cupcakes and chatted over the faint sound of the rain.

had to order a cupcake as there were no cupcakes at home and i was craving for one very badly.
this was my friend's cupcake. Their cupcakes really remind me of what i baked before! i love Deli Chicchi's selection of cakes as they are all baked freshly and looks home-made, which gives you this very cosy feeling when you have coffee here.

Rating: 4/5 -because it is a really nice and cosy cafe. There were people who brought their dogs with them, i want to bring my dogs to a cafe too! I have not tried that before because I dont want to be chased out with 2 dogs held on one hand, and another hand holding my coffee and cupcake! I should try and see how my dogs react, i know for sure they will be wagging their tails and jumping on strangers because they are such attention seekers.

then we went to good grocers to look at the overpriced groceries which blended in with the richer Applcross suburb. I heard it was opened by my former employer and they just take their goods from *** and marked it up, this is from a company who emphasizes on supporting locals and providing better service to the local community.

with their exorbitant prices, i could still find a few cheaper stuff to buy.bought the white chocolate apple $1.99 which sounds delicious but does not taste as good as it sounds -- someone finished it without giving me a bite :(

Perth - Sensations en Ardross

Sensations en Ardross is in Applecross, one of the richer suburbs of Perth. My tummy was rumbling and I was around that area, so I decided to go to check out the unique cafes on Ardross street.



Sensations en Ardross looked the most inviting so i went in!

The cafe has a very cosy and homey feel to it. It makes me want to snuggle under a warm blanket with a cup of hot chocolate.

It was crowded both inside and outside, the alfresco area was full so I had to sit inside.

MissFattyFoodie always has a problem with luck... the kitchen closed right before she was going to order her lunch! I ordered some cakes and coffee instead, who can say no to that?

Passion Fruit Sponge - $6.50

Being the last slice left on the display, you can't blame the cake for being a bit dry. Nice passion fruit taste though but nothing spectacular. The plate they served the cake on is really pretty and gives you the feeling of dining at home or someone else's home.

Cherry Custard Wanton - $2.20

This pretty little thing served on the pretty little dish is very fun to look at. It may look good but it did not taste that good. The wanton skin was soggy and not crispy anymore. I think it will taste much better if I was there earlier and it is still fresh.

Mocha - $4.80

One thing good about australia is they have cheap beer and cheaper coffee. The coffee is here slightly more expensive than the coffee elsewhere. I was in desperate need for caffeine that day I drank it without giving much thought to its taste.

Lunch specials - which I did not get to try!

The cakes and coffee were average. However, the cafe is a very nice chill out place and I will definitely go back again for coffee!

Sensations en Ardross is a gold-plate award winner so their food must be good. Hope i will have better luck next time!
